Overview

Some properties truly seem to be heaven sent, and after three visits to this rural home in Andalusia we struggle to find a fault in this near perfect 2 bed cozy cottage.

The pretty rustic pink villa is a welcome sight with its wild flowers and lower level pool with views that reach as far as Africa. Blending the beauty of indoor and outdoor living, this hideaway home offers exceptional privacy -hidden away in a forest only 4 kilometers from the whitewashed village of Gaucin.

Inside, the home is full of character – with plenty of natural warmth and a touch of stylish rustic charm. From the country style kitchen to the timber barn inspired ceiling, the book laden verandah, and the colorful rugs; this secluded enclave is great for couples seeking ambient rest and relaxation.

Every nook and cranny is tastefully adorned with bright details like paintings, books and plates.

The whole property spreads across one level, except for the master bedroom (complete with ensuite) which sits prettily in the loft gallery. Patio doors and terraces from the main living spaces seamlessly move you into the beauty of the garden.

The terraced gardens are semi-wild, but care has been taken to maintain the leafy natural space. A morning walk around the pathway allows you to soak up the splendor of the area, even leading you past a small lily pond in your own grounds.

The setting truly is magical. Even when swimming in the pool, you can gaze out across the lush mountains and swaying palms. Beside the pool, the shaded pergola provides a sheltered place for mezze lunches, and the sun loungers invite you to flop down in the heat with a good book.

The terraces are also designed with relaxing in mind, with furnishings to snuggle back in with a glass of wine and watch the sunset.

If you can bear to tear yourself away from the peaceful respite of the villa, then there is plenty on offer close to hand.

The gorgeous village of Gaucin has all the shops and restaurants you need, along with a picturesque hilltop castle.

A little further and you come to the wild and untamed nature surrounding the artistic mountain village of Genalguacil where you can truly get off the beaten track.

Those who want to sip cocktails on the sand will also find the lively Mediterranean beaches of the Costa Del Sol only a 40-minute drive; 20 minutes further, and you come to the quiet and powder-soft beaches fringed by the fresh Atlantic.

Here's an update from our visit in October 2024: the semi-wild gardens are now landscaped, and there is no palm tree, which had to be cut down due to a palm tree disease; the view is even better now! Due to fire risk, there is no longer a barbecue, which cannot be provided.

A truly wonderful villa in a beautiful location - so many stunning views. We had a really relaxing holiday. The service from Rustical Travel was excellent - they answered queries swiftly and gave extensive pre-holiday information including very detailed instructions on how to get to the villa (very helpful as we had not driven abroad for decades!) Would definitely use Rustical Travel again and are already planning to return to this villa."

The house itself is perfectly equipped and decorated with warmth and meaning. The views are absolutely stunning, they surround the house and are truly breathtaking. The pool is the perfect temperature and an incredibly relaxing place to be. One can spend hours there without realising! It really is a wonderful oasis and would definitely return again."

This is a beautiful property inside and out. It was very clean and well equiped with everything you could possibly need. The linen and towels were of very good quality. It is extremely comfortable and the gallery library is so enjoyable to dip into. Outside the garden is a joy and obviously created with skill and love. The pool is well maintained with amazing views. All in all a perfect choice for us. The agent Esther was very knowledgeable and helpful."

This villa is very special indeed. The house has everything you could wish for and more (well equipped kitchen, comfortable super king bed, walk in wardrobe) and the outside space is delightful (unbelievable views over the mountains, a wonderful pool area, lovely gardens and lots of different areas to sit and relax). This was, by far, the best villa we have ever stayed in. We are the sort of family that likes to go out and about every day sight seeing but we didn't want to leave as we loved the property so much that we barely left apart from to get food. We were so happy just pottering and relaxing in and around the house and gardens. We did pop into Gaucin a couple of times, had some lunch and walked around the castle. We also discovered a lovely walk along a river which was beautiful and then stopped for lunch in a mountain village. Such a beautiful area. There were four of us (2 adults, 2 kids aged 9 and 6) and we all fell in love with the place and the incredible views. Thank you. Our next holiday has to a lot to live up to!"

Stuart | July | 2019

An idyllic location with awesome views and excellent facilities - simply breathtaking. However, the gardens were certainly not lush and I have already advised the key holder that the irrigation system was not working properly. In addition, I was a little disappointed with the general upkeep of the garden and spent the first day watering the tubs and dead-heading a number of summer flowering shrubs."

Rustical Update

On our visit to this property we found the gardens to be lush. When we asked, property managers said they considered these comments about the gardens didn't do justice, considering they are Mediterranean gardens (not English or Atlantic). They also mention that after many very hot suny days plenty of head flowers will dry out as part of the Mediterranean natural process but still remains as a magical outdoor area regularly maintained. The property owner is passionate about his garden and reports that he will still take into consideration this feedback.

I stayed here with my husband from 14 to 21 July 2018. There is a very long track up to the house, about 4-5 minutes drive with plenty of space to park. The house is beautiful and rustic with everything you need. The gardens and pool were amazing and we also loved to sit on the sofas on the wonderful terrace. There are spectacular views every way you look and total privacy. We only went out twice to get provisions and had the most relaxing holiday ever. I highly recommend this property if you want peace and quiet. A big thank you to Javier, Brett and Esther at Rustical Travel for being so helpful from start to finish. Highly recommended."

What a lovely, cosy house to stay for two weeks! We could easily stay three. What a view and tranquility! We were very lucky to witness the lunar eclipse while at home in Belgium it was cloudy. We saw a lot of vultures circling the sky every day. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We lived outside because the weather was perfect and not too hot for august. There is enough shade at several places. The swimming pool has a wonderful view on the valley. Gaucin is a very nice white authentic village. A lot of nice restaurants and bars for tapas and more and shops to buy deliscous Spanish food. There is a lot to see in the surroundings and the recommendations from the owners and the keyholder helped us a lot. We really felt at home here and took a lot of sweet memories back home! We'll be back!"

Caroline | June | 2018

We had a wonderful time at this property, after booking and waiting nearly a year and looking at the pictures occasionally wishing for our holiday to come around, then finally arriving, it was everything we could have hoped for and more. The property was exactly the same as the pictures, simply stunning. It was very spacious and even cool in the summer months with a light breeze. The kitchen had every conceivable thing that you would need, just like at home and we felt right at home from the moment we stepped inside. It has a lovely feel to this property and that's the difference between it and other rental properties, it really is a home. We loved the garden and pool area, I'm a gardener and that was what drew me to the property in the first place, plus the amazing view. We loved sitting under the palm tree relaxing, or sitting on the terrace just looking at the beautiful view. We really didn't want to leave and would love to go back one day, its a very special place and we feel lucky to have stayed in it."
