Overview

The best of both worlds can be enjoyed at this traditional Spanish villa set against the staggering backdrop of the Ronda Mountains.

Guests can wake to impressive peak views, while still enjoying the space and serenity of a flat grassy valley.

The easy fertile valley on which this charming rustic 17th century farmhouse sits offers tangled vineyards, colorful markets, and fragrant fruit orchards all close to the little village of Cortes.

Making the most of the grassy valley seems to be what this villa does best. The well maintained gardens offer plenty of space for children to play, along with a terrace, patio, porch and barbeque area to ensure that you can make the most of long afternoons and late nights.

The pool is another fine feature, and for those who want to extend their swimming season – the pool can be heated at an additional cost but it only takes the chill of shoulder season temperatures.

Guadiaro river runs across from the property and according to locals – never dries up. It is knows to be excellent for fishing but no so practical for swims.

Despite other properties being close by, this Finca retains an air of privacy thanks to the space and setting.

From the outside, the property has a sweet simplicity with its old cobble stone patio and sweeping outdoor space. Inside, the home is full of character with exposed beam ceilings, wood burner, splashes of sunflower yellow and large country kitchen.

The ground floor stays cool, but the first-floor bedrooms can get warm on summer nights which is why the property boasts thoughtful features like AC.

Unlike most of rural Andalusia, only 2km from the property you will find a railway station which connects you to the land of a Alhambra Palace in gorgeous Granada.

Back in the heart of the Grazalema Natural Park you can explore the heart of the Ronda Mountains.

Unlike nearby Gaucin, this spot is missing the expat communities and masses of tourists, making it a truly authentic experience of Spanish life.

Beautiful property in an even more beautiful setting. Property looks exactly like the pictures, services are spot on and Linda (the property manager) is a delight. Thanks for everything."

Jill | October | 2024

A beautiful house with a lovely pool in a large open garden. Unfortunately, we arrived at the start of the dreadful rains which Andalucia experienced in late October and early November. 3 days of torrential rains raised the nearby river to nerve-wracking heights. The house is in the valley approached by a dirt track which deteriorated as the rain continued. A good car, with good tyres, is essential. And this is were the criticism starts. The television reception was awful and given we were stuck indoors for days on end, why not provide a DVD player and a CD player. The barbecue should be wood fuelled (not gas). We tried the gas-fired unit once but gave up."

Rustical Update

Our team followed up on this feedback:

The owner confirmed that the TV system was recently upgraded to include a wide range of channels and films, eliminating the need for a DVD player. However, the extreme weather temporarily affected internet service, which is common in rural Spain during severe storms.

Also mentioned is that the gas BBQ is a high-quality model that works well, though damp conditions can occasionally impact the electronic ignition. Tools for manual ignition, such as matches and a lighter, are provided in the house.

Wood and charcoal barbecues usually are forbidden most of the year due to fire risk.

Regarding the access road, the owner says that part of it has already been paved, and the remaining section will be improved when the weather permits.

The members of Rustical Travel who visited this property managed with ordinary cars and had no problems.

A cool, very comfortable villa set in beautiful surroundings with every amenity you could reasonably want. The garden is lovely, the pool clean and enjoyable for some gentle swimming to cool off, the shaded seating area nearby perfect. We enjoyed eating outside and made very good use of the barbecue. The location is great for access to Ronda, Malaga and Marbella as well as the coast immediately to the south, including Gibraltar (which is a dump by the way!). The furthest we ventured was to Seville, a relatively easy 2 hour drive each way. The house is accessed via a dirt track although the road up to the village of Cortes de la Frontera was in the process of being resurfaced during our stay and this made for a much smoother drive when heading off in that direction. One note of caution is that access to the house requires traversal of an ungarded single track railway line. You have to exercise extreme caution crossing this, particularly from the Cortes side because the line is blind until you are almost upon the track. Ask me how I know! Overall, a lovely properly in a wonderful location. Highly recommended. p.s. Linda is lovely and couldn't have been more helpful."

The house was lovely and the beds were of exceptional quality. It is always nice to rent a house like this where you can see and feel that the owners also live there. The pool was huge and the entire outside area was very comfortable"

Had a lovely very relaxing stay. The house is great but the best bits are the garden with amazing views and pool and the outdoor area and barbecue. It’s very quiet and private but quite isolated and the road to it is not tar mac but this did not inconvenience us. Overall a fantastic holiday."

What a wonderful week in Cortes de la Frontera. I can’t recommend the villa, Rustical Travel, or the local agent highly enough. Communication was excellent from the moment we booked, Linda in Spain was extremely helpful and responsive, and the villa itself was spotlessly clean, beautiful, and had everything we needed and more for a very comfortable stay. Worth noting: - In April the wisteria and orange blossom were in bloom over the terrace and the smell was glorious - There were lots of outdoor games and board games available in the villa which our children loved. - The pool heating was enough to take the edge off the chill but it wasn’t warm (as we were warned when we booked). Don’t expect a warm pool at this time of year! However, with glorious weather in the mid to high 20s that didn’t stop the kids or us from swimming!"

All the information you provided, and the meet and greet, were absolutely fantastic and so easy to follow. Thank you rustical travel for making our holiday so memorable. The villa was fantastic for what we were looking to get out of out holiday, rustic villa, large swimming pool and the great outdoors"

That house was lovely, comfortable and well equipped. The garden and pool were also really nice. Only downside that we hadn't anticipated was the walking distance to local town (we thought from the description that this was more feasible than it actually was). Some board games, children's books would also be great to have at the house. Overall though I would certainly recommend it."

Rustical Update

The property owner confirmed there are board games. They are all in a special large footstool in the lounge/diner.

We checked in Google maps and the distance from the house to a local bar / restaurant is 2 kms or 25 mins walk.

Very comfortable and spacious accommodation with fantastic outdoor areas in a very rural location, but within 10 mins' (bumpy!) drive to nearby villages. The villa had all the amenities we needed and more, with lots of items that added to our enjoyment (badminton net, floats diving rings for the pool). The gas BBQ was fabulous - we used it every day - and we were lucky with the weather so could make the most of the lovely outdoor areas. The pool was fantastic, enabling swimming, pool games and diving, and we enjoyed the sun loungers and the shade of the pergola by the pool during very hot days. Many thanks to Linda, who provided helpful information on local walks during our stay and was very informative. The area is beautiful with lots to do and see, so we would love to return! The only slight negative was that the property is at the end of what feels like a very long dirt track and it is a bit adventurous to get there, so a hire car with a good suspension is essential - and be prepared to hand it back covered in dust!"

We are impressed of the location feeling the mountains around and the stillness to enjoy. The accommodation was marvellous with a beautiful garden accomplished with a green lawn, fruit trees and a yin-yang swimming pool. The villa itself was excellent, with a lot of space and fully equipped in a cool and cosy atmosphere. Also the hosting from Rustical Travel deserves a great compliment. So highly recommended!!!!"

We are a family who have travelled around different parts of the world and stayed in various different properties and we highly recommend Rustical Travel. Communication and understanding at these difficult times were excellent. Linda who met us at the property was impeccable, nothing was too much and helped us with advice from Restaurants to Birthday cakes! The property was very clean, very well equipped, with a lovely size pool. You really couldn't ask for much more. Thank you again all at Rustical Travel especially to you Linda. A super house for an amazing holiday and we hope to be back again in the future."

The property was fantastic, rural, self contained and very well equipped. The kids enjoyed the vast gardens and pool area whilst the house was both comfortable and accommodating. The kitchen left us wanting for nothing and the holiday was thoroughly enjoyed. Only regrets, we did not book longer. Only slight niggle was the quality and cleanliness of the cleaning materials at the house. The brush and mop heads available were very old and could have been renewed."

What I liked the most was not just the surroundings which was awesome having the mountains right there, but also the good quality of the items and great setup we found everywhere inside the house. We had a great time at the property with two small children. The pool and grounds were great, especially the shaded dining area and excellent BBQ. Bedrooms were great size and kitchen was well stocked with utensils. The location is stunning and great for feeling like you have got away from it all. We saw lots of wildlife which the children loved. Bear in mind that if you want to pop into the town for food or drink and supplies and you have young ones then it is definitely a drive - not a walk on foot. We would return."

We hugely enjoyed our stay at this property. Real care has obviously been taken choosing the facilities in the house, and in the outside area which we used constantly. There is lots of good cooking equipment. The large bed upstairs is very comfortable. The rural location and views from outside are beautiful. We would happily return to this house if we are holidaying in this area again (and if it is available)."

Rosie | July | 2018

I noted a previous feedback comment saying that the neighbour was noisy. I felt that to be very unfair. Yes we were aware of them on occasions, but they certainly did not disturb us or spoil our stay. If you want total quiet on your holiday, do your research and find a property which is isolated. This one is within a quiet local community. The property is delightful, well cared for and the manager was supportive and helpful. We had a lovely holiday there. However, I think it would be appropriate to advise that when hiring a car, you opt for a 4x4 if possible as the track to the property is very long, dusty, very bumpy and undulating! Happy customer."

Rustical Update

Further to our latest visit to this property, our team considered that although the track to the villa has some bumps, an ordinary car should be enough (not low-slung cars).

We wanted for our holiday a relaxing, quiet and peaceful destination but also somewhere that kept our 5 children entertained. This villa delivered on all of these expectations.Beautiful location and villa, with plenty to do in the surrounding areas. In the 10 days we were there we visited, Gibraltar, Ronda, Gaucin, a Waterpark on the coast and went horse riding locally. After all of our sightseeing it was great to get back to the villas tranquil setting. This villa will require you to drive so make sure you are comfortable with doing so. But for us it was definitely worth it!!Whilst there it was the local Feria which was great fun with a very small fair, a parade, some sort of horse competition, a bull run through the small town, Spanish music, fireworks and generally a very Spanish small celebrations.Whilst in Spain you have a contact Linda Breda who will help you with any requirements. Thank you for sorting the horse riding everyone enjoyed immensely. We loved every minute there and the children all want to go back again!!"

A fabulous place with stunning mountainous view. Incredibly well equipped and all facilities and furnishings very high quality. The eating area outside is great all very spacious. Off the beaten track but surrounded by a few houses so you don't feel cut off. The Spanish family next door were very noisy which was fine, but not if you want complete peace and quiet. We did love this place though."
