Overview

Integrating a villa, with large gardens and a pool in the middle of a wild forest means investing hard work taming the surrounding nature, while also a good know-how in making sure all the elements coexist in harmony.

This is exactly what these property owners achieved with their stunning country home: each moment you spend here feels like heaven. Wonderfully nestled in the enveloping Mediterranean wilderness, the location is magical and you simply can´t get enough of the fascinating views.

Everything about it oozes character; it is classy and stylish, and on our visits we found it exceptionally well-maintained.

The house itself is arranged in several, internally linked, wings that extend from and around a central hexagonal tower. It is a luxurious holiday home, very nicely presented throughout and naturally inviting.

Although relatively newly-built, it was created maintaining the style of old, very traditional Andalusian fincas.

When it comes to attention to detail, this house is exceptional. Every part of it was built thoughtfully and without a rush, taking nearly 5 years to be completed.

Materials used were carefully selected, such as restored old wooden doors, handmade terracotta tiles, wooden framed windows... each adding meaning to the overall picture.

Outside and just adjacent to the front patio, there is a one bed annex which increases the capacity of the property to 10 people. Parties of 8 people or less can also opt to use this extra en-suite bedroom if the main house´s sleeping arrangements aren’t suitable or if certain guests prefer some independence.

Access to the property is via a 3 km drive right through a lovely cork forest that transmits good vibes from the get-go.

Park your car right in front of the house and don´t be surprised if you find yourself stepping on the terracotta cobbled patio and imagining a page of a trendy countryside magazine.

The master bedroom on the 1st floor is superior in quality with two balconies and a beautifully styled bathroom. On the ground floor, there is another king-sized bedded room and 2 twin bedrooms.

One of these twins is probably better suited for children as it has single, 1.80 metre-long beds. The other has 2 double beds, suitable for adults or children who wish to sleep together.

Bear in mind that this property has a strict rule set by the managers that only allows a maximum of 4 children under the age of 12.

The kitchen is very well equipped, just as one would expect, but the true star here is the Lacanche range cooker. Serious cooks, behold!

Enjoying the pool area is a must, both during the day and at night, when the pool and the surrounding plants are illuminated, creating a pleasing atmosphere. A smart addition is the bar right next to it, which is great for chilling out with friends or family over a drink. A restroom just beside it also comes in handy.

Families with toddlers should keep a close eye on them whilst near the pool as it is on a lower level. The lawned areas around the house are, however, safer for keeping the little ones at bay.

The lack of air-conditioning is not a problem since the house is very well-built with thick walls that maintain indoor freshness. The surrounding forest also acts as a natural thermostat, nicely keeping the heat indoors and out at more tolerable temperatures.

At this finca, you get to enjoy privacy and forest intimacy without losing out on views.

The sight over the protected natural spot of the mountains of Sierra Crestellina is simply stunning.

Local house sitters occasionally come by to tend the pool and gardens, although they always respect your privacy.

You may choose to go to the beach for a day out, visit the stunning historical town of Ronda, or go for lunch at one of the good local restaurants.

What an exciting spot for holidays!!

Exactly as described. We were delighted by the property - delightful villa furnished beautifully immaculately clean, beautifully tended grounds and a lovely pool. And such a peaceful setting. The whole process from initial reservation through to departure was extremely well managed."

The villa was absolutely breathtaking. Truly one of the most beautiful locations we have ever stayed in. The house was cool and clean and a lovely place to relax. We have recommended it to all of our friends. I do hope we return again one day."

It is a great location with a particularly wide and beautiful view of the mountains. A beautiful house for people who are really looking for a quiet area. It is fully equipped, but is half an hour away from the nearest village. (at certain times you hear many dogs barking, probably a kennel!) A FANTASTIC TOP LOCATION."

Property ref RD114. Good communication from Rustical Travel and check in etc was straightforward. House exquisite, as were views and pool was exceptional. Gaucin's delicious restaurants provided lovely evenings. Less perfect were: Barking dogs most nights were a problem. Kept us awake. Though doubt if anything can be done as noise came from other properties. Lack of air-conditioning also huge problem, though perhaps was hotter than normal. Open windows at night meant noise of dogs. Closed windows meant lack of sleep as too hot! Hopefully most years this heat isn't a problem. Also, no walking trails as promised in Rustical Travel's information. The caretaker didn't know anything about it - thought there was a track by the gate which we followed a bit but then met fences etc. Your house information as emailed in advance (wasn't mentioned in house book when we arrived) maybe needs amending or checking? Sprinklers - huge amounts of water used, sprinklers soemtimes came on in the middle of the night and were still on hours into the next day. We were asked not to flush the toilets unnecessarily etc, but seemed pointless saving when compared to the waste of water outside? Am interested in drought in Spain etc? But house, grounds, pool, region of Spain, all beautiful and we were happy to be there."

Rustical Update

Some weeks in August 2019 were extremelly hot, the property owner is considering installing AC in the property in case the heat is recurrent over next summers. The property owner mentioned he didn´t need AC in 20 years living at the property by having ceiling fans on and with roller blinds down. There are currently ceiling fans in bedrooms (and living area). We did mention about a pathway crossing the property but we have removed this information while we investigate further. We hear that the path may be made clear once an enviromental permission is issued to allow property managers to clear the path. Property owner mentioned sprinklers are in good order and not using huge amounts of water as they are running low in water by end of Summer, they say the system irrigates in the middle of the day to avoid evaporation and to avoid bothering guests during the day. If a sprinkler is working during day time this is due to technical problem and as soon as it is detected this is fixed.

When we arrived at home, there is nothing for welcoming in this house which is far à ay from every Shop : nothing to drink!! And we didn’t have a good contact with Erika, who seems to think that we are dangerous for the house! The Way to arrived is a little to long"

Rustical Update

We recommend to request a wellcome food hamper for this villa.

This was a beautiful high quality villa set in a stunning location. Although the following recommendations did not detract from our enjoyment of our stay I think they need addressing. If it wasn't for these issues I would have given it an "excellent" rating; The villa DID need air conditioning in the bedrooms. Would have been useful to know the tap water was not for drinking before arrival to find a half opened bottle of water only. it was a half hour trip each way to get groceries and we arrived hot and tired. Basic amenities like toilet roles, tea towels, bin liners, dish cloths seemed to be on ration, dish washer tabs? Had to go and buy most of these as they were not very forthcoming from the cleaners and gardner. Working instructions on safe did not allow us to use this. Contacted representative but she referred me to the instructions? Seemed to be a slight problem with the pool. Not sure what it was, but gardner seemed to know about it and it looked like work in progress."

We have thoroughly enjoyed our week in your beautiful house and garden. After a showery start, the sun broke through, the view across the hills cleared and we were treated to the best of the Spanish Spring. The hills were a riot of colours as we explored some of the incredible walks in the area - Montoro Ridge, the Smuggler Trail and beautiful walks along the river from Jimena de la Frontera. We had some lovely meals in Gaucin and also enjoyed dining at the house and reading in the sitting room or playing games afterwards. A bit early in the season to enjoy the pool (although the kids did go in...briefly!) but it was a lovely place to sit. Thank you for a fabulous stay!"
