Overview

Caught between the high mountains and Granada’s balmy tropical coast, this elegant stone villa seems to blend beautifully with its wild and untapped surroundings.

As soon as we arrived - the classy architecture tapped up into our curiosity, and when we stepped into the gardens – the uninterrupted views that reached in every direction left us starry eyed.

The gardens are a surefire highlight of this villa; offering the best in outdoor living. A collection of different terraces gaze off into different directions, pretty pergolas and soft awnings offer shady escapes in the hot afternoons, and pathways wind down to the pool, and seasonal fruits hang heavy waiting to be plucked.

The gated 12-meter pool also sits in a wonderful spot; dotted with sunbeds and flanked by mountains. It’s the type of place where hours are lost to late lunches, endless card games in the gazebo and sprawling out on the grass.

There is a feel of privacy and freedom and being dropped right in the wild; the fact that every direction is open is a pure luxury, but in only five minutes’ drive you could be dining on tapas in the pretty local village gifting you the best of both worlds.

Inside, the Finca is full of warm rustic charm. Keen chefs are sure to be tempted by the ample kitchen and dining area offering a central focal point of the property and an amazing cooker range.

Capturing a countryside feel with stone, exposed wood, and quirky bright touches, and boasting doors that lead out onto a shaded al fresco spot - this place screams stylish summer suppers.

From the kitchen, stairs lead you up to the rotunda designed living space that absolutely oozes with character. It’s the perfect flop space after long days exploring the region or even just a cool escape after a day down at the pool.

The layout of this house is inspired and fascinating, offering endless interlaced areas on different levels that seem to communicate well with the terraces and communal spaces.

It is worth noting that the bedrooms don’t have king beds; one of the factors that kept this wonderful property from being placed on our luxury list.

As the house makes good use of solar energy, guests also won’t find features like a dishwasher or microwave here either.

The property also has its own water source to supply the property – adding to the romanticism of being self-sufficient and wildly free.

Sitting between the massif of the Sierra Nevada (at a soaring 3000 meters high) and the balmy tropical coast gives you great surroundings to explore.

The Lecrin Valley is a lovely spot; where citrus fruits sweeten the air and sceneries can change in only a short drive.

From walking in the heady high Alpujarras Mountains to sun glazing on the wild beaches of Maro and taking in the Moorish sights of Granada, days out are endless in this excellent holiday destination.

Susan | August | 2023

We enjoyed our stay here so much! The facilities and amenities were excellent, the rooms were beautifully comfortable and the hosts were very helpful when needed. The roads take a while to get used to but it's worth it for the views and the remote location. Thank you very much."

From the first glimpse of El Maestro from the winding track you know it’s a special place. Surrounded by mountain ranges, looking down the valley to water and local villages, it is perfectly positioned. The house is welcoming and generous, a great balance between a superb holiday villa and a family home. A wonderful variety of spaces to eat together. A fantastic cook’s heaven of a kitchen. Using the blinds and following the suggestion of closing windows to the sun helped to keep the house cool, aided by breezes blowing through. Jasmine perfumes the air, bright geraniums, bougainvillea, roses, honeysuckle, ox-eye daisies fill the garden and walkways. Being able to walk out and pick; lemons, pomegranates, kumquats, grapes, rosemary and mint was wonderful. Charming Jose was lovely quietly working away. The wildlife was spectacular, from huge eagles, falcons, dragonflies, butterflies, baby geckos, through to grasshoppers of all colours and sizes. It was difficult to leave the pool and poolside so beautifully positioned. The pool was well looked after by Miles and his daughter who ensured all was well throughout our stay. Jen was really great, readily available to help at any point. Mari Trini was such a lovely person helping Jen to change bed linen and towels but also she cooked a wonderful meal for us (9 with various allergies) eaten on the top terrace well into the night until the sky, unpolluted by light, lit up into magnificent starlight, breathtaking. Finding fault anywhere would be immediately balanced out by all the peace and joy. A word must go to those who originally had the vision and foresight on finding this place and were inspired to create such a haven. It must have taken a lot to achieve given the ease one now experiences of living there. Claramente hemos caído bajo el hechizo mágico de El Maestro!"

Jordan | June | 2022

We spent two weeks with our six young kids at this property and can't wait to come back. It was a truly special place - well-appointed for visitors but still felt very much like a home. Our kids explored the property, hiked up nearby ridges, and enjoyed the pool. It truly felt magical at times. It felt entirely remote, but grocery was only 10-12 minutes away, and the beaches 35 - 45 mins away. Property manager was excellent, very responsive and friendly."

The house is a real family home with an amazing kitchen and huge sitting room. The views are spectacular and the heat of the day is kept at bay by the gentle breeze coming up the valley. The gardens and lovely with many fruit trees and several quiet book reading spots if you want to get away."
