Overview

It’s no wonder that this holiday property is so popular. It’s just right and it comes at a good value.

The two-bedroomed villa is located just outside Orgiva in its fertile Low Alpujarra valley, in private semi-tropical gardens, exuberant and colourful, that are a joy from the moment you enter.

The sunny climate has encouraged plants, trees and shrubs to grow up and enclose the property, ensuring complete privacy for guests relaxing in the gardens or bathing in the swimming pool. It’s very intimate and not overlooked.

There is good quality garden furniture for eating out, an awning covered porch as well as natural shade, a swingseat by a fantastic pool, sunloungers, and a hammock slung between trees that include a tall palm. It's Andalucia at its most luxuriant.

A botanist could fill a field book with the varieties of flower, shrub, bush and bamboo, and there are fruit trees that produce all year round: orange, lemon, plum, medlar, strawberry, blackberry, kiwi, even banana and passion fruit. Flowering and scented plants such as night jasmine complete a veritable garden of earthly delights.

The house is a very pleasant holiday home for four people. Practical, tidy, properly equipped and well-furnished without pretending to be luxurious. It’s set back in the gardens and entered from a shaded, furnished porch, next to a pretty stone pond that adds yet another touch of natural liveliness to the ambience.

It's just the place for disconnecting on a relaxing Andalucia holiday.

Orgiva, capital of the Alpujarras, is just a few minutes’ walk away. It has everything you might need by way of shopping, a busy open-air Thursday market, plenty of cafés and bars with terraces, restaurants and whole food shops.

The Costa Tropical is an easy 40-minute drive from Orgiva. Don’t expect sandy beaches, but do look for the occasional pretty spots along the coast, beach restaurants and their fish barbecues.

Granada and the magnificent Alhambra palaces are 45 minutes away and the picturesque and increasingly famous ancient villages of the High Alpujarra (Capileira, Bubion, Pampaneira) with great walking, are just 25 minutes up the good (if long and winding) mountain road.

Super holidays await you at this property: that’s what our clients have told us time and again. The warmth and sun start early in the year and usually continue into October.

Enjoy!

Ann | September | 2024

This is a very comfortable house - full of charm and warmth- in a great location and with a garden that is the most gorgeous place you could hope for. Lush and full of beautiful plants, flowers and a fabulous pool, we were very happy and felt privileged to be staying there. A short walk into the bustling town of Orgiva and a very doable drive to the beautiful mountain villages makes this house really well situated. The family were warm and kind, bringing us delicious home grown produce and being helpful when we had questions about the area etc. A very special place that we would definitely recommend!"

Amazing and lovely property in a great location for a relaxed break. Few comments I would make are to provide the property address as the car hire companies require this. And also in your “things to do guide” make it clear that you must take your passport or driving licence to the Alhambra to gain access!"

The property was amazing, had absolutely everything you needed. Was very private and quiet, perfect for a summer holiday. Maria and Emilio are just lovely, leaving us some home grown vegetables from their own garden. They arranged maintenance visits with us during the week which did not bother us one bit. We could not fault this property at all, it is 100% what you see on the website, and the pool was a welcome relief from the very hot weather whilst we were there. To have so many different areas to sit and relax is a bonus, near the pool, near the house, near the pond and at so many places in the very expansive grounds with all it's fruit trees and beautiful flowers. Near to local amenities and bars for drinks/tapas, perfectly placed. Would definitely recommend this villa to anyone, an absolutely perfect holiday."

The garden and the pool are wunderfull. The house itself is quaint. The living space is not the most practical and the kitchen is quite small. The bedrooms are spacious enough and the beds are fine. This is a house suited to spend the majority of your time outside on the terrace, in the pool, near the bbq or in the garden."

The gardens and pool at the property were lovely and much needed in the heat! We used the bbq area by the pool a lot and enjoyed the different seating areas around the garden. We found the house to be more basic but everything that we needed was there and it’s rustic feel was what we were expecting. Air con in the twin room would have been nice. It was very hot when we were there and our children struggled to sleep. The owners were friendly and helpful and bought us fruit and veg from their garden which was nice. It’s worth noting that they came at least twice a week to water the gardens and although they were as unobtrusive as possible and always friendly it did mean we had to be aware of when we needed to be out of the pool and that we had to be arranging timings etc throughout our visit. This was ok but a bit of a pain and some guests may not appreciate this extra level of contact and extra organising when trying to totally switch off. Their visits are what keep the gardens so lovely though so we understood why they came so often and certainly appreciated the garden. It’s quite a walk into town and we found that it took a good 20-25 minutes to the centre. Orgiva itself had great supermarkets where we could buy anything we needed but it’s not a touristy spot so don’t expect lots of restaurants and gift shops etc. Granada is easily doable if you have a car and we visited several times. It’s an amazing city. The mountain villages were also worth a couple of trips as was Nerja for the caves and a bit of a touristy day out. We had a great trip and would recommend this property as long as you don’t mind the regular visits from the owners."

Beautiful, amazing and very generous garden, lovely large pool, great variety of exterior seating areas. Inside darker than in website pictures but totally fine for hot weather, we didn't need to use the aircon. Secluded location (very low light pollution at night) but within short and easy walking (10mins) or car (5mins) access to Orgiva. Orgiva is a convenient spot to explore the wider area, a pretty quiet town with lots of eating/food options. Extremely helpful and lovely owners, very friendly and welcoming, sorted out any small issues we had straightaway. Fantastic place for a family or small group seeking a quiet spot to relax. Rustical Travel provided very comprehensive and clear booking and stay information, and responded quickly to our queries."

We had a lovely relaxing week in June. Maria and family were really welcoming and helpful. Orgiva is only a 10 minute walk away, either by the path outside the property or via the road. The Consumer and Dia supermarkets are a good size and have everything you could need and there were plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. A great place to unwind."

The villa is very nice with marvellous grounds and swimming pool. The pool is big enough for a proper swim rather than just a quick plunge, and it's extremely relaxing sunbathing next to it with the quiet and beauty of the grounds. It's only a ten-minute walk into town for a meal or drink, but it feels very secluded and remote."

We very much enjoyed our stay in Orgiva in Maria and Emilio's home early July. In summer you spend all day in the garden and not so much inside. The kitchen had enough equipement for us to cook. We did not use the living room. The garden was lovely and very large and very private with lots of places to sit down and relax or eat , in either sunny or shady spot. The pool was great and big for the 2 of us. It needs maintenance 2x a week but Maria will discuss the right moment to drop by. The house is situated on the outskirts of 'downtown' Orgiva and we liked the short hike into town that was recommended by Maria. It is not all that pretty but convenient and in 10 minutes you will have reached the nearest bar or the market on Thursday mornings. When you drive to and from the house you can get lost if you do not pay attention, like we did, so listen carefully to Maria's instructions and remember there is a large palm tree on the back of the house....;-) Emilio showed us their Huerta next door, where he grows his vegetables. And he shared some of his harvest with us , which was most kind and tasty! Communication with owners was good. Maria speaks enough Spanish to understand each other and both Maria and Emilio are very kind and always helpful."

We had the most wonderful and relaxing holiday. Maria and her family were very welcoming and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. The gardens are a tropical idyll, beautifully looked after. The pool is superb and we enjoyed the seclusion, as well as the peace and quiet. The house was extremely clean, well equipped and wonderfully cool, even without the air con. This is a special place. We also found Rustical to be a high quality agent. Excellent and speedy communication, especially as we had to postpone this holiday twice, due to Covid. They were always very helpful and understanding."

Everything is exactly as the photos show and the villa is spotlessly clean and well equipped. We would recommend this villa to anyone looking for total peace and quiet in a stunning location. The walk to town is about ten minutes and not too strenuous, but a little steep in places (you'll need a torch at night too!). I can't recommend this highly enough, we absolutely loved it. The whole booking process with Rustical Travel was faultless and they were very efficient and instructions they send were spot on. Thank you Maria x"

Tal | April | 2022

The Garden is heavenly, the pool, the surroundings, the orachade, the seating areas. We really enjoyed the outside area. However, the house facilities were not as good. Towels were too small and too thin. These supposedly small details can make all the difference. The double bed was terrible. The bed isn't a real bed but a mattress that sits on a large board, so there's not actual bed frame and this resulted the mattress (which isn't amazing in itsef) moving away from the headboard from time to time. We both felt very uncomfortable using that bed and even woke up at nights. The provided pillows were too rigid and hight which resulted a severe neck pain. My back was literally broken at the end of this trip and I couldn't wait coming back to our own bed at home. In overall the property is charming and the owners were friendly but the indoor facillities were dissapointing. Thank you, Tal Wagner"

Rustical Update

The property owner confirmed that towels are standard size and with normal thickness for cotton towels. She also mention there are two type of pillows available. The headboard however is 1.35 metres wide and she replaced the old bed for one sized 1.50 metres for extra width and she is aware there may be a better way to fix the mattress to the headboard. As this is the first time she heard anything negative she confirms she will be looking into this.

Staying at the villa, especially the beautiful garden and pool area, was a lovely experience. Maria was very friendly and helpful without being too intrusive. The arrangements to meet in a local hotel on arrival worked seamlessly, and were essential for finding the property. There is a rough, but easily walkable, path into Orgiva from the villa, which takes about 7 minutes. Orgiva is not chocolate box, but it is a smart enough, non touristy, friendly, little town with some nice eateries and a vibrant square. Ideally suited for wonderful Granada and the Alpuurra mountain villages."

we where here for one week and this is a fantastic place to be! The very nice owners gave us several garden fruits and olive oil and show you the garden and all the kinds of fruit trees in it! The garden is gigantic and beautiful. It has a good BBQ but mind the cats who are waiting on the background for a good steak. Swimming pool was very well kept and for us it was nice opportunity to cool down in the heat of the andalusian sun. Orgiva may not be the nicest town around to be honest but you have good supermarkets and you can organize very nice walking trips from here, but you need a car to go to the spots. We made the Trevelez walk along the river in the beautiful valley (5 hrs) but the paths are not signed at all so get a good map or you get lost in the shrubs and water canals llike we did when we tried to get to the other side of the river to go back... The Orgiva hippie market is not so much interesting and had better days i think."

What a great place, lovely large garden (fresh orange juice every day from that garden), views, location (also the vicinity of the costa, Malaga, Granada, Sierra Nevada). Very private, very quiet. One tip: of you like to drive around a little bit, make sure to drive over the A-4130/A4132 from Torvizcon (20 km from Orgiva) to Trevelez. A fantastic winding well paved mountain road mostly over mountain ridges with stunning views."

Such a lovely place we've already booked again for next year. Owners very friendly and attentive. Only adverse comment we would make is that access is narrow and windy - avoid renting a large 4 x 4 at the airport! Rustical travel advice and guidance invaluable. Thanks for a fantastic holiday. Need to keep quiet about this one - so we keep it for ourselves!"

Rustical Update

We have already updated the information to advise renting an ordinary car instead of a large one.

I just thought I'd write to say that we had the most perfect holiday in Orgiva. The villa was idylic and a wonderful place to relax and unwind. It was exactly what we were looking for in a holiday. It was great meeting the owners as well, who were so friendly and welcoming. We also found the information you sent through regarding the surrounding area really useful. Most of the time we spent in the villa's garden as it was so idylic, so we didn't venture out much! But one day we did visit Capilieira and Bubion. One of our highlights was visiting the weaving workshop in Bubion called the Taller de Telar. You haven't said much about it in your information sheet, so I just thought I'd recommend it. We were lucky enough to visit in a quieter season, so we were the only visitors at the time and the owner gave us an individual demonstration of how the loom works etc. The workshop is owned by an enthusiastic French women who is passionately keen to keep the Andalucian tradition of weaving alive in the Alpujarras. She has 2 ancient looms from Granada & makes shawls, throws, blankets and bedspreads. She is self taught & may even provide a demonstration of how a loom works, depending on how busy the workshop is. Well, thank you so much for a great holiday, and we will definately use Rustical Travel again. Muchas Gracias."

Spent a week here at the start of September and wished we could have stayed longer. It was an absolute paradise. The house was lovely with exposed beams and beautiful little details everywhere. The garden was incredible with orange, mandarin, nut, olive and avocado trees everywhere, and loads of old milk pails, pots, urns etc. which added a lot of charm. There were 2 patios, one just outside the house where were were visited by lizards, butterflies, grasshoppers and a frog! and the second down beside the pool with comfy couches and chairs and a built-in stone barbeque. The pool, of course, was the highlight, plenty long (10m I think) to swim in and plenty deep as well for "adults" to dive and jump in. It was always clean as the filters ran each evening, and there were some loungers beside it for even more lounging. The villa is located about a 5 min walk outside Orgiva. You have to walk along a grass/dirt path between various groves so it might be a little difficult for less mobile people, but it was fine for us - just don't forget the torch in the evening! The house is also accessible by a narrow road so you can take a car, or walk down this road instead but it's a bit longer than the grass track. Orgiva is a small town with an eclectic mix of people - from traditional locals to some expats and some hippies. There are some nice restaurants and a couple of supermarkets, and it's a great base from which to explore the beautiful Alpujarras area. The owners of the villa were so so nice - Maria Jose and her husband Emilio. They made us feel very welcome and at home, and came every few days to check the pool and water the plants - but were very careful to respect your privacy also. They left us some of their veggies and gave us a bottle of their delicious olive oil from the trees in the garden. A really lovely couple! Highly recommended - we were so happy and would love to return again some day."

This was the most lovely holiday. Beautiful pool, total privacy, total relaxation, extremely pleasant and accommodating owners very generous and helpful. would recommend it to everyone, who is like us older and game for almost anything. Orgiva is a really nice place, the surrounding countryside and villages stunning, and although quite a lot of hippies as well as tourists a good mixture. We tried not to look or be like the inevitable ex pat British, because it is Spain after all. I suggest you use the bit after."
